The searches start after Halloween and fade by mid-December.
Temporary light searches run roughly November 15 to December 15 (Evergrow, 2025). The campaign is built in October and spends only while you still have dates.
- Cut searches for strands, jobs and wholesale bulbs
- Run permanent lighting as its own campaign, all year
- Stop bidding the day the route is full
Google is the second channel for holiday lighting, and a short one. Searches arrive after Halloween and fade by mid-December. Holiday light clicks averaged $5.23 in one agency's 2025 benchmarks (Evergrow, 2025). Bid on installer searches, block product shoppers, and stop spending once your dates are booked. Permanent lighting runs on its own, all year.
What a search lead costs here
In the same benchmarks, holiday light search leads most often cost $100 to $150, with outliers at $44 and $200, and about 4% of clicks became leads (Evergrow, 2025). That is why search comes second in this trade. It serves the late searcher well, but it is a costly way to sell a whole season.
No badge to fall back on
Google's Local Services Ads list has no category for holiday lighting or Christmas lights. Landscaper, Lawn care, Handyman, Electrician and Window cleaning are on it (Google, checked November 2026). If you also run one of those trades, it may qualify there after Google's screening, and it brings that trade's work, not light installs. A lights-only company relies on search ads.

“Ty and the team at To The Max Media have been great to work with. They're easy to communicate with, full of smart ideas, and always deliver on time. Their work has helped our holiday lighting business grow and book terrific jobs we simply wouldn't have landed otherwise. Highly recommend them to any business looking to take its marketing to the next level.”
A few things you might be wondering
Which searches should a holiday lighting campaign block?
Searches for products, jobs, do-it-yourself help and wholesale supplies, which one agency strips from these campaigns (Creatively Innovative, 2026). Someone pricing a strand of lights or a seasonal job is not hiring an installer.
Can permanent lighting ads run outside the season?
Yes. A permanent system works for every holiday, not only Christmas, so Evergrow runs those ads all year and has since late 2024 (Evergrow, 2025). Give them a separate budget and a page that shows your installed price.
Should the campaign target the whole city?
Target the route. Draw the area around the neighborhoods your crews can reach in a day and leave out the rest, so a click from across the county does not buy a job you cannot fit.

- Cost per click
- $5.23 average cost per click for holiday lights, against $4.14 blended across all services in the same 2025 benchmarks (evergrowmarketing.com); all-industry search cost per click is $5.42 and cost per lead $66.69 (localiq.com, 2026)evergrowmarketing.com, 2025
