"Is artificial turf safe for dogs?" Your page should answer it straight.
Type "is artificial turf" into Google and most suggestions are safety and environment questions. Answer those honestly first, then show the price per square foot.
- Cover pets, heat and drainage before price
- Never promise a water rebate the city does not pay
- Test pet yards or putting greens, one at a time
Turf buyers ask whether it is safe for dogs and kids, whether it gets hot, and whether they qualify for a rebate. An installer's ad in ChatGPT should lead to a page that takes those on plainly, with installed prices beside them. One project type per test keeps pet yards and putting greens from being judged together.
The rebate line that gets installers in trouble
Water rebates are local and often exclude turf. Southern California's Water$mart program allows no synthetic turf. The Las Vegas water authority pays $5 a square foot but accepts turf only in place of mulch, and the area still needs 50% plant cover (SNWA, 2026). An ad that says "get a rebate" can be false a few miles away, so we name a program only where it applies.
Admit the heat, then say what it saves
In a 2026 University of Florida survey, contractors flagged heat as turf's top drawback more than homeowners did, and both groups named less watering as the main benefit (UF/IFAS, 2026). Lead with no mowing and no watering, and be honest about heat. For pet yards, explain the drain core and antimicrobial infill, since trapped urine and odor are what pet owners worry about.

A few things you might be wondering
Should pet turf and putting greens share a test?
No. Pet turf with a drain core, antimicrobial infill and deodorizer runs $11 to $16 a square foot (InstallArtificial, 2026), while most backyard putting greens cost $6,000 to $20,000 (Texas-Tuff, 2026). The buyers ask different questions, so each gets its own page and its own test.
Can the ad say our turf is PFAS-free?
Only if the maker documents it. Vermont has banned selling turf with intentionally added PFAS since January 1, 2026 (9 V.S.A. § 2494f), Colorado has barred installing it since then (SB24-081), and Maine follows in 2029 (38 M.R.S. § 1614). In states without such a rule, "PFAS-free" is a maker's claim, not a legal standard.
Should the test go after HOA and business work?
Check the state first. Since January 1, 2026, Colorado has barred new nonfunctional artificial turf on commercial, institutional and HOA common property (SB24-005, as amended by HB25-1113), and California lets cities restrict it (SB 676). Homeowners' own yards are the simpler first test.
Does turf demand drop in winter?
In cold markets, yes. Spring through early summer is one of the busiest stretches (Realturf, 2026), so a test belongs in late winter or early spring. Where winters stay mild, as in much of the Sun Belt, demand holds up better and a winter test can make sense.
